“It Was Necessary” Luke 24:1-12

Luke 24:1–12


1. Luke 24.7 The Son of Man must be delivered to sinners .. must be crucifiedmust be raised. Must is the Greek word (δεῖ)

to be under necessity of happening, it is necessary, one must, one has to, denoting compulsion of any kind. ⓐ of that which takes place because of circumstances or inner necessity, with the context determining the cause ⓒ of an inner necessity growing out of a given situation

I. We Live in a Reliable World — We take it for granted, without much thought. (Mal. 3:6)

1. The basis—God. “I the LORD do not change.” (Mal. 3:6)

2. The word we use is Law

3. There is a law of our being, what makes for life—simply love. This is the law expressed in the 10 commandments.

4. Not hitting the mark of the law of our being is sin, the result is dissolution, death. Romans 8:2 “law of sin and death”.

II. God Cannot Change—He Cannot Deny Himself 2 Timothy 2:13

1. The Consequences are inevitable, they will happen. There is no avoiding them.

2. By sharing our humanity, God took the consequences upon himself.

III. Death Could Not Hold Him and Cannot Hold Us Down (Acts 2:24)

1. “the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free” Romans 8:1

2. through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead (Romans 1:4)

3. and you will receive the gift of the Spirit (Acts 2:38); it will quicken your mortal body (Romans 8:11)
