Constitution & Bylaws
Following the biblical injunction that “all things be done decently and in order” (1 Cor. 14:40 KJV), the Salem congregation governs itself by a duly adopted Constitution and Bylaws.
As a congregational church, Salem recognizes Christ as the sole head of the church, ruling through the collective membership of the local congregation. The governing body of Salem is “the membership assembled in the Church meeting” (Salem Constitution, Article VI). Church leaders are elected by the church body and given authority to act on behalf of the congregation.
