Living by faith is meant to change your life. So often we don’t experience the life change God intends. This sermon explores how faith works to change us.
Synopsis–SUFFERING is to be expected. It means you are a true HEIR of God. God’s true children seek to share in his nature which means PERSECUTION by the world and the CRUCIFIXION (putting to death) of your flesh (i.e., sinful desires).
What often makes something deadly is the very quality of having something to offer. Fire can be deadly but it offers great power. So too electricity. Inert things are not deadly but offer little to nothing. The encounter with Christ is deadly, both to the believer and unbeliever, precisely because Christ is a living reality
Key verse: “Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church” (Colossians 1:24 NIV).
