Prayer of Preparation

Eternal God, your Son, Jesus Christ, now exalted as Lord of all, pours out his gifts on the church. Grant us that unity which your Spirit gives, keep us in the bond of peace, and bring all creation to worship before your throne; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

WELCOME TO OUR WORSHIP SERVICE—Is this your first time at Salem?  If so, welcome. We’re so glad to have you with us.  If you’d like for us to get to know you better you can use a connection card located in the seat pocket in front of you and drop it in the offering plate later in the service. Also, be sure to stop at the narthex on your way out for a gift from us. Thank you for coming!

The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held immediately following the service today.  Please plan on attending.  We must have a quorum present or we will have to reschedule the meeting.  We will make the meeting as brief as possible.  Please pick up your copy of the 2018 Annual Report in the Church Entryway.  (One per family, please.)     –The Church Council

THE CHURCH OFFICE will be closed, Monday, January 21st, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

THERE WILL BE NO SENIOR CENTER on Wednesdays in the month of January.

ECHO ARTICLES ARE DUE on Wednesday, January 23rd.

THE EVANGELISM COMMITTEE will meet on Thursday, January 31st at 6:30pm in the adult Sunday school room.

BOWLING AND PIZZA!—The Jr Youth are going to Franklin Lanes on Sunday, February 3rd following the 10:00am service.  There will pizza and bowling at noon.  There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall foyer. Please contact Susan English, Kimbra Parker, or Holly Pugh for more information.  Hope to see you there!

THE SR YOUTH will have a meeting on Sunday, March 3rd from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

MEMBERSHIP SUNDAY—Our next Membership Sunday is coming up in early March.  We invite all those considering church membership to contact the church office to set up an appointment with Pastor David or you may contact him directly.  Pastor David’s email address is salempastor@gmail.com.

THE BOARD OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION’S ANNUAL VALENTINE’S BANQUET is on Sunday, February 10th immediately following the 10:00am service in the Fellowship Hall.  We invite all to attend and will be having a free will offering. This is the BOCE’s only fundraiser so please come out to support the church’s youth. We would like to recognize all couples married 50+ years during the banquet. If you or anyone you know has been married for at least 50 years, please contact Sue Peterson at monkeytoz@yahoo.com or 812-589-1237.

WE WILL BE TAKING PICTURES  for a new church directory during the Valentine’s Banquet.  Since church members are taking the pictures this time, there will be no pressure to buy anything.  In fact, we can email you the pictures if you are interested.  We will also have copies of the tentative directory at our picture taking station, so please check to make sure all the information is correct for you and your family members.  We will be taking both individual and family shots.  If you will not be staying for the dinner, we will also be in the Fellowship Hall from 8:45am-10:00am that morning to take pictures as well.  Any questions, please email the church office at salemdarmstadt@gmail.com or call 812-867-3142.  Thank you!

POSITION AVAILABLE:  Brandon Buck is stepping down as music leader of the 11:30 am contemporary worship service.  Thank you to him for his years of service!  That leaves a position available. The ability to play an instrument is desirable but not absolutely necessary. We have the capacity to play music accompaniment through a new electronic device. Please contact Eldon Scott (812-768-5099) or Elaine Daniels (812-455-2605) if you are interested or Pastor David (812-867-3142) if you have questions about the music format.

CALLING ALL WOMEN IN THE CHURCH–YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER — Consider doing SOMETHING SPECIAL for yourself this year, and join the secret sisters. Just fill out a form with a bit of information regarding your likes/dislikes and especially prayer needs. Forms will be available the first Sunday in January in the narthex and on the bulletin board by the Fellowship Hall. Put in the collection plate, take to the office, or give to Margi Scott by SUNDAY, JANUARY 27th.  You will receive your sister’s information the next week.  During the year you can buy small gifts (leave in church office), mail cards, etc so she knows you are thinking of her.  MORE importantly pray for her as she has asked. Just imagine having your own special person who is praying for your needs. QUESTIONS: e-mail Margi at oldcoots2@yahoo.com or call 812-768-5099.

SPECIAL MUSIC IS NEEDED FOR 2019 — There is a sign up sheet outside the church office or you can e-mail salemdarmstadt@gmail.com or call the office at 812-867-3142.  We currently have openings for February 17th, March 17th, April 28th, and May 26th.  Please let me know your selection and composer.  And a very special thank you to everyone who shared their musical talent in 2018!

SALEM CHURCH IS COLLECTING ITEMS for the Christian Life Center.  The items for January are canned meat items and toothpaste.  There is a collection box at the entrance to the Fellowship Hall.
